Venterra Group appoints Nigel Ward as Chief Commercial Officer
Sunday 1 March, London, UK: Venterra Group, the offshore wind services company supporting the global energy transition, has today announced the appointment of Nigel Ward as Chief Commercial Officer.
Nigel brings extensive experience in commercial leadership, offshore construction and subsea operations, having spent over 27 years working across the Renewables and Oil & Gas sectors. Before joining Venterra in 2025 as Managing Director, Subsea Services, he held board‑level roles across several offshore construction companies. He served as Managing Director at Aratellus and co‑founded Modus, spending over a decade as Commercial Director and later Managing Director. Earlier in his career, he held Commercial Director roles at CTC and DeepOcean UK, following an initial career with Saipem and EMC. Nigel brings deep industry insight spanning subsea construction, survey, trenching, marine operations and advanced subsea technologies, with a strong track record of supporting clients, introducing new technologies and building and scaling innovative subsea service businesses.
In his new role, Nigel will lead Venterra’s global commercial strategy, ensuring the Group continues to meet growing client demand for high‑quality offshore wind services while highlighting the broad engineering and subsea capabilities that support projects across the wider offshore environment.
The appointment follows the departure of Paul Doherty, who has decided to step down from the role. As founder of Gavin & Doherty Geosolutions (GDG), the first company that Venterra acquired, Paul played an important part in shaping the Group’s development, including serving as Managing Director of GDG, EVP Engineering, and most recently Chief Commercial and Growth Officer. Venterra thanks Paul for his contribution and leadership.
Ed Daniels, CEO of Venterra Group, said:
“Nigel is a highly respected commercial leader with deep experience across our sector. His understanding of client needs, proven commercial acumen, and collaborative approach make him well‑placed to support Venterra’s next phase of growth. We’re delighted to welcome him into this role.”
Nigel Ward, Chief Commercial Officer of Venterra Group, added:
“Venterra has built a distinctive position in offshore wind, underpinned by specialist engineering, subsea and marine capabilities that are relevant across a wide range of offshore environments. I’m looking forward to working with our teams to strengthen how we engage with clients and to ensure the breadth and depth of Venterra’s offering is clearly understood across the markets we serve.”
Venterra Group was established to accelerate the global energy transition by supporting offshore wind developers at every stage of the project lifecycle. The Group comprises specialist companies with expertise spanning engineering, construction, operations and maintenance, and subsea services.
