Venterra company GeoForce selected to deliver shallow‑geotechnical solution across N‑Sea vessel fleet
Wednesday 11 March, London, UK: GeoForce Technical Services, part of Oceanscan and the wider Venterra Group, has been selected by N-Sea Group to deliver a fully integrated shallow‑water geotechnical solution across the N-Sea vessel fleet.
Beginning in Q2 2026, N-Sea and GeoForce will deploy a bespoke geotechnical package permanently integrated onto an N-Sea vessel, targeting offshore wind and transmission projects. This collaboration will provide clients with a reliable, ready‑to‑mobilise geotechnical platform, removing the uncertainty and delays often associated with vessel‑of‑opportunity approaches.
As part of the scope, GeoForce will deliver specialist geotechnical acquisition and analysis, including seabed characterisation, sediment analysis and core penetration testing. These insights will directly support route optimisation and installation design, giving clients a clearer, higher‑resolution understanding of subsurface conditions and de‑risking critical engineering decisions ahead of cable installation. The work is essential to ensuring subsea infrastructure can be routed and installed safely, efficiently and effectively across varying offshore environments.
James McDonald, Managing Director of GeoForce Technical Services, said:
“It’s a pleasure to be selected to work with a company as ambitious as N-Sea. GeoForce will continue to invest in the latest equipment and technology to ensure this collaboration delivers a technically compliant, safe and highly efficient geotechnical platform. By permanently mobilising the vessel with an integrated geotechnical spread, together we remove the uncertainty of vessel‑of‑opportunity methods and provide a proven, ready‑to‑deploy solution.”
Patrick Defilet, Director Survey of N-Sea, said:
“We are excited to bring this collaboration with GeoForce to the market as N‑Sea expands its offering to clients in both Renewables and Oil & Gas. While we have delivered shallow geotechnical services on a project‑specific basis, this partnership enables a major step forward. By adding a permanently mobilised geotechnical spread to our in‑house geophysical solutions, we can provide a faster, more efficient and fully integrated platform, supporting our ambition to grow and diversify across the offshore energy sector.”
