Appointment of Executive Vice President Engineering

Venterra Group Plc, the offshore wind services company, today announces the appointment of Paul Doherty as Executive Vice President of its engineering phase offering, which focuses on providing best in class services during the development phase of offshore wind farms.

Paul co-founded GDG, the specialist engineering and design consultancy which has been a Venterra member company since 2021.  With recently acquired Ordtek, a world leading UXO risk management consultant, Venterra's Engineer offering is building a comprehensive front end set of services for offshore wind developers. It will continue to grow in the months ahead under Paul’s leadership as Venterra invests in existing member companies and brings complimentary skillsets into the group through strategic acquisitions.    

Paul has over 15 years’ experience in the Offshore Wind Sector contributing to the development of over 35GW of offshore renewable energy, where he has taken on leading design, engineering, and consultancy roles for projects around the world. Paul founded GDG in 2011 and has since grown the team to over 130 engineers and scientists. He holds a BEng degree from University College Dublin and a PhD focused on offshore foundation design.

Venterra was formed to create a global services champion supporting the offshore wind industry’s rapid expansion and leading role in the energy transition. It is building a service offering across the wind farm lifecycle, comprising Engineer, Build and Support services through a combination of acquisition and investment. The business aims to generate accelerated growth in the fast-expanding market and urgently add the skills and capabilities needed for the energy transition.

Dr. Indrasenan Thusyanthan will take on the leadership of GDG, where as Managing Director he will continue the tradition of technical excellence that has underpinned the design and engineering service firm over the past decade. Dr. Thusyanthan is a Cambridge educated engineer with a PhD in geotechnics and a 25 year track record in major offshore and energy related project delivery around the world.  Over the past year, Dr. Thusyanthan has been a core part of the senior leadership team at GDG and has contributed significantly to its recent growth.
