Appointment of Ed Daniels as Chief Executive Officer
Date: 2024-10-01
Venterra Group Plc, the offshore wind energy services business, announces the appointment of Ed Daniels as Chief Executive Officer. He joins the group on 1 October and replaces Philippe Kavafyan in the role of CEO.
A strong advocate for the sector, Philippe played a significant role in strengthening the foundations of the business and driving the roadmap for Venterra’s future growth.
Venterra was formed to create a global services champion supporting the offshore wind industry’s rapid expansion and leading role in the energy transition. It is building a service offering across the wind farm lifecycle comprising Engineer, Build and Support services through a combination of acquisition and organic development to generate accelerated growth in the fast-expanding market.
With a 35-year career working across the energy value chain, Ed Daniels brings a wealth of leadership experience to the group. This includes his former role as Strategy, Sustainability and Corporate Relations Director at Shell Plc, where he sat on the Executive Committee and had accountability for the company’s existing Strategy, Sustainability and Corporate Relations organisations. Prior to that, he served as Shell’s EVP of Strategy and Portfolio, as well as CEO of the Shell Catalyst Company. He most recently led a series of industry-related projects for Bain & Co. A qualified chemical engineer, Ed began his career as a technologist, taking on increasingly senior roles that required strong commercial acumen and the ability to build high performing teams. He is a graduate of Imperial College and Henley Management College and a Fellow of both the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Institution of Chemical Engineers. He also has an honorary doctorate from the Imperial College of London.
Ayman Asfari, Executive Chairman, said:
"The board is pleased to appoint Ed Daniels to this important role and has confidence in his ability to deliver Venterra’s vision for wind power to play a leading role in the energy transition. I would like to thank Philippe for his contribution at a time when his expertise was critical to the growth of our business."
Ed Daniels said:
"I am truly excited to be joining Venterra at a key stage in the company’s development and working closely with the team and our industry partners to enable this vital sector to achieve its full potential."
Philippe Kavafyan said:
"I am proud to have been part of Venterra’s journey and contributing to the strategic development of the business. I wish Ed and the Venterra team all the best as they will contribute to the success of offshore wind."
